The Legend of Toba
Lake
Once upon a time,
there was a man named Toba who lived in a small village in North Sumatra. He
was a farmer and lived alone. One day, he went fishing in a river and caught a
big golden fish. When he brought it home, the fish turned into a beautiful
woman.
The woman told him
that she was cursed and would become a fish again if he told anyone the secret.
Toba agreed and later married her. They had a son named Samosir. The boy grew
up to be very naughty and often made his father angry.
One day, Samosir
was asked to bring lunch to his father in the field, but he ate it on the way.
When Toba found out, he was furious and shouted, “You are really the son of a
fish!” Suddenly, dark clouds appeared, heavy rain fell, and a big flood came.
The woman turned
back into a fish and disappeared into the lake. The land around them was
flooded and became what is now known as Toba Lake. The small island in the
middle is called Samosir Island.

Title: A New
Initiative to Reduce Plastic Waste in Indonesia
Jakarta, March 10,
2025
Indonesia is
facing a growing environmental crisis due to the increasing amount of plastic
waste. The government has taken a major step in reducing plastic pollution by
launching a new initiative called "Clean Indonesia 2025." The program
aims to reduce plastic waste by 50% by the end of 2025.
Under this
initiative, the government will encourage businesses to reduce the use of
plastic packaging and promote the use of reusable materials. Schools and
communities are also getting involved by organizing clean-up events and
teaching children about the importance of recycling.
One of the key
strategies of "Clean Indonesia 2025" is the creation of more
recycling centers across major cities. These centers will allow citizens to
properly dispose of and recycle their plastic waste, turning it into reusable
products like bags, bottles, and containers.
Indonesia has one
of the highest rates of plastic waste in the world, with more than 6 million
tons of plastic waste generated annually. Experts say that if plastic waste
continues at this rate, the damage to Indonesia’s oceans and wildlife could
become irreversible. However, the "Clean Indonesia 2025" initiative
offers hope, as experts believe the plan will help reduce plastic waste
significantly and protect Indonesia’s natural beauty for future generations.
B. Answer the
following questions based on the article.

key strategies of the "Clean Indonesia 2025" program?
Why is plastic
waste a problem for Indonesia?
How much plastic
waste does Indonesia generate annually?
What do experts
say could happen if plastic waste continues at its current rate?
What is the
potential benefit of the "Clean Indonesia 2025" initiative?

Answer Key (Teacher’s Guide)
Note for Teachers:
The LKPD is primarily a self-guided worksheet. The responses will depend on the
students' creativity and the topic they choose. However, as a teacher, you can
guide them in following the structure, providing feedback on the organization
of their speeches, and giving tips on public speaking. Encourage them to be
specific with their examples and to focus on speaking clearly and confidently.
This LKPD will
help students organize their thoughts, structure their speeches effectively,
and prepare them for delivering a speech with confidence. You can also
encourage them to practice in front of an audience to simulate a real speech
contest environment.
